Reflection summary

A useful next step

Important: This informal self-check is not clinically validated and cannot estimate your likelihood of dyslexia, confirm it, or rule it out. Only a formal assessment by a qualified specialist can diagnose dyslexia.

Understanding the self-check

What can a dyslexia self-check tell you?

A self-check can help you notice and describe patterns in reading, spelling, writing, memory, and organization. It cannot determine whether you have dyslexia. Experiences vary between people, and similar difficulties can have different causes.

Reflect privately

Your responses are calculated only in your browser. There is no account, database, analytics tracker, or saved result.

Describe your experience

The summary describes how frequently you selected each response. It is not a probability, clinical score, or diagnostic threshold.

Choose a next step

If reading or writing difficulties affect daily life, a qualified dyslexia assessor or educational psychologist can provide a formal assessment.

Frequently asked questions

About dyslexia screening and assessment

Is this an online dyslexia test?

No. ClearRead is an informal educational questionnaire, not a validated dyslexia test or screener. It cannot confirm, exclude, or estimate the likelihood of dyslexia.

Can dyslexia be diagnosed online?

A questionnaire alone cannot diagnose dyslexia. A formal diagnostic assessment considers reading, writing, language, educational history, and other relevant factors. The British Dyslexia Association explains the assessment process.

Who is this self-check for?

It is written for adults and young adults aged 16 or over who want to reflect on everyday reading and writing experiences. It is not designed for assessing children.

What should I do if reading or writing is difficult?

Record the situations that affect you and discuss them with a qualified learning specialist. The International Dyslexia Association provides guidance on testing and evaluation.
